Welcome to Casa dei Ciottoli
The guesthouse “Casa dei Ciottoli” certainly is one of the most peculiar short let solution in the world, unique for its artistic dna.
It was built in mid 20th century by Guerino Galzerano, called “the architect” – a local farmer who collected pebbles from sea’s shores or from river’s banks.
In addition to the house, he decorated four others sites, all in Castelnuovo Cilento:
- the Garden under the Medieval Castle
- the village of Santa Caterina
- the monumental tomb in the cemetery.

THE GUEST HOUSE
The house, completely renovated with top-quality materials, is 70 square meters approx, over 2 floors. You will find there a cozy living room with kitchenette made in real modern design, 2 bedrooms, bathroom with wide shower and a 20 sqm mezzanine loft with sofa bed and relax corner. The highlight of the house is an incredible terrace and its enchanting view on the seaside, the Alento Valley and the medieval tower of the village. HISTORY
Guerino Galzerano was born on May 2, 1922 in Castelnuovo Cilento, a small medieval village of Cilento, in the province of Salerno. Last of five children, his life is studded with painful events. In 1949 he was arrested with the inaccurate charge of having killed his cousin Emanuele. The local Marshal had him jailed because -as the marshal wrote in his report - he was the only one not to cry at his cousin’s funeral.
In 1956 Guerino married Teresa, then he emigrated to Germany.
In 1970, once he came back from Germany, the most dramatic and painful event of his life took place. During a verbal confrontation with his mother, Guerino Galzerano got mad, got a rifle and shot a friend of his wife, killing her, held responsible for adultery.
Wanted by the local police force, Guerino escaped capture. Till the night he went to the prison of Vallo della Lucania and, knocking on the door, said: ''Hold your troops. I am the man you are looking for''. Guerino was convicted to the criminal asylum of Aversa, and he was kept in there till 1977....biography
